Thanks be to the ocean, mother of us all.
After a painful childhood, and years of
trouble and toil on a tiny Brittany isle,
I’ve learned to observe you, had many moons to watch you

Merci à toi mer , notre mère à tous.
Après l'enfance qui rime avec souffrance , après les années de tumultes et de déconvenues ,
posé sur une petite île de Bretagne ,
je t'ai longuement observée , abondamment regardée
Je sens tes flots qui me caressent , je sais quand tu écumes ta colère
Que tu es belle quand le soleil de mars t'innonde ,
mon printemps , ma naissance
Ton immensité m'a soigné , me voilà libéré
Regarde moi , écoute moi , aujourd'hui je t'écris , je te chante.

Un beau jour on nait
Un lendemain on n'est
Puis un jour on n'est plus
Comme l'oppressante montagne dévoile son trésor et l'immensité
désertique cache le sien, moi j'ai trouvé le tien
Quand je te vois, j'ai envie de plonger
dans ton liquide salé, entrer dans tes gouffres marins
si semblables aux gouffres utérins
et me laisser porter
