Khabarovsk is always open toforeign guests especially as Russian Far East key airport is here. Consulates General of Japan and China, representative offices of large foreign companies are in Khabarovsk. Khabarovsk maintains sister-city relations with Niigata (Japan), Portland (USA), Victoria (Canada) and Harbin (China).
An important position in the city economy is taken with foreign trade. The city regularly runs tenders of investment projects that are becoming more and more popular. Khabarovsk International Fair JSC is a largest in the Russian Far East company for organizing shows. It has modern equipment, a universal complex with the floor space of five thousand square meters. Khabarovsk is an center for foreign tourism. Foreign guests are attracted by the variety of the city sights and the nature of Russian Far East. Today over 80 companies deal in tourism.

The city on the Amur river is the long-established aviation capital of the region. From here the air-space exploration of the Far East started, here a powerful aviation maintenance base was formed. At the end of 2000 in Khabarovsk the Inter-Regional Administration of Air Transport of Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern okrug was formed. This administration acquired new okrug territorial in Yakutia, the Kamchatskaya, the Magadanskaya oblast and the Korjaksky and the Chukotsky Autonomous okrugs to its traditional jurisdiction over the Khabarovsky and Primorsky krais, the Sakhalinskaya, the Amurskaja oblasts and the Jewish Autonomous oblast. |
